Dadi’s foods: An analysis of a food start-up in a tough economy

I bumped into Dadi a lady who ran a food delivery company which at its peak delivered more than 100 plates of food during lunch and about 30 plates for supper daily.

How Dadi’s Foods Started

Dadi started as a till operater in a fast food outlet in Bulawayo! However, as a grudge move by her manager she was moved from the tills to the kitchen to help cook and sweat it out!

She worked for 5 years in the food outlet but when the 2008 economic crunch hit, she quit to pursue her private business as her salary was now useless.

She started selling samosas at a local shopping centre and she could move in excess of 200 samosas a day.

However as 2008 hit her business also took a nose dive and she gave up and went into the ‘money burning’ business everyone was doing
